About

Hi there, and welcome!

My name is Kerry. I am a mother to 4 children ages 15, 12, 9, and 3.  That last one was adopted from Ghana in Jan 2009. We have been homeschooling for 8 years. I have a BA in Art History with a concentration in Photography.

I'm a fairly laid-back person who doesn't mind letting the laundry pile up if there is a good book to be read or a giggle to share with my kids. Which generally means that I let the laundry slide until it reaches out of the hamper and grabs me by the ankle. Of course this sort of housekeeping is not restricted to the laundry....

We are a Christian family who are committed Anglicans. We believe strongly in the liturgical form of worship, but also in the liturgical form of life. Our family enjoys celebrating the Church Year in our home: Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Pentecost, Ordinary Time...and lots of other Holy Days and Holidays!

So, as you might expect I blog a lot about parenting, homeschooling, Anglicanism, and the Church Year, but also on cultural issues. And whatever else is on my mind.

I started blogging a few years ago as a way to record our homeschooling efforts and to swap ideas with other homeschoolers. I chose the name because I loved Mother Goose as a child and the "Ten O'Clock Scholar" just fits my personality... a little bit "off the clock".

Soon I found that I really enjoyed expressing myself through my blog and getting involved in the "good conversation". I continue blogging because it is a wonderful record of modern life in general and my life in particular...like a modern day journal, I suppose. I look at it as a hobby that keeps my mind active and engaged in the world around me.

A Ten O'Clock Scholar is usually updated a number of times each week, but when life gets busy it can be weeks...and when it is really busy - even longer.

I love comments and conversations....so jump on in and speak your mind!

Oh, and don't forget to subscribe via email or RSS to receive my blog updates.
