Classical Conversations - Cycle 3 - History

As promised (even if a bit late), I've got the 2nd semester history lesson plan for Classical Conversations Cycle 3 ready! Scroll down to the beginning of the second semester. You'll notice I'm still filling in some resources for the last couple of weeks (covering present day info and some US Goverment), but I think there is enough there to cover the material.

Need books for this semester? Check out my Amazon "aStore" (I get a small precentage of each purchase you make through blog links and the "store". If you enjoy this blog and/or this lesson plan, it is a great way to say "thanks" - and doesn't cost you a thing! :) )

Please leave a comment if you download this. Also, if you share with friends, would you direct them to my blog to download this rather than just sharing the file? Thanks, that will help me gauge the usefulness and circulation of this info.

Here is the link to the History Lesson Plan. It is a GoogleDoc, so you should be able to download right from that page with no problems, but let me know if you need some help.

Enjoy!

Thanks SO much for sharing your hard work!! I found your site this summer and your first semester outline was SUCH a help. I know this will be, too. May the Lord encourage your heart as you have blessed us!!

You are very welcome! I just figured if I'm putting this much work into something for my own kids, others might benefit, too. :)

The Lord had definitely encouraged me through your kind words!

Thank you so much-I can never fully stick to one history plan and this is close to what I had in mind. I appreciate the advice and insight. And a blessed Epiphany to you as well.

I am so using this for this week at least, I am so far behind in my lesson planning.

Thank you very much! I plan on doing CC this fall and I already love TOG and was worrying about combining the two and how. Thanks for all of your hard work!

Would you be willing to blog a bit more about how you combine TOG and CC? We are currently using TOG and LOVE it. I was considering CC for next year, but am still unsure how the two would work together... would it be too much or too confusing for my little guys - ages 5 (will be in K) and 7 (will be in 3rd). Looking at this plan it seems as though you move quickly through TOG to keep it on track with CC - is this correct?

Thank you SOOO much for sharing this! We are doing CC and I've been wanting to use TOG resources; this is such a find! I really appreciate all of your work! Will you be doing this for Cycle 1 next year?

Kerry said...

Daisy - YES, I do plan on doing one of these for Cycle 1. Hopefully, I'll have it ready in May. If you subscribe, then you won't miss it when it comes out!

Thanks from California. I'm just starting CC and am looking to see how other parents planned.

Hi Kerry

Can you tell me what TOG stands for? I'm still looking at curricula for beginning next year. I believe the CC group in our area will be on Cycle 3.

Thanks,
Amanda

I will be starting Cycle 3 with my 5 yr old in the fall and I am starting to collect some of the books we will be needing. For some reason Children’s Verse in America on Amazon is not lining up as far as page numbers to the poems. Could you give the exact title and author? Maybe even send me a pic of the book's cover? Thanks!

Hello, Amber! The Children's Verse in America is a book that I use, but not a CC suggested book. It is one I found at a library book sale or something. I don't really even remember! You could easily any other children's poetry book - you'll just have to look through it to find poems that would work for each week.

However, the full title is The Oxford Book of Children's Verse in America by Donald Hall ISBN: 0-19-503539-9

Hope that will help you!
